GRAPHIC ARTIST - BRANTFORD, ON


Position Summary:

Creates four-color and black and white advertising within established concepts and produces finished graphics in support of Sales Promotion programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

  • Designs, illustrates, proofs and typesets four-color and black and white materials for all print programs within marketing group.
  • Produces advertisements according to size, graphic and font specifications.  Designs and creatively arranges ad boxes, typefaces, images, prices, headers, body copy and store addresses upon the advertisement.
  • Selects graphics and photos from existing application files.  Prepares and colors all art work images to ensure quality, reproducible advertisements.  Prints and provides artwork proofs to the Advertising Manager, and Merchant group for final review.
  • Prepares and sends all electronic art files to appropriate vendor.  Advises vendors of corrections and approves layouts and print proofs.
  • Coordinates and communicates with the Advertising Manager, to ensure that project artwork is mailed within project deadlines.
  • Produces all necessary artwork and handbills for corporate functions and in-store promotions as requested.
  • Produces as advertised product signs and serves as a support to circular advertisements.
  • Maintains knowledge of a skill with Ad software and keeps abreast of changes and new technologies.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Post Secondary Education and experience required
  • Associates degree in commercial art or related field required.
  • One to two years of graphic and commercial layout design experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Graphic Arts software including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Experience with Image Scanner and Image Setter applications required.
  • Creative copy writing, grammar, spelling and some math skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain accuracy within strict deadlines required.
